About Us
Adele Wilson: As coordinator of the UCSD Health Professions Mentor Program, it is my challenge and pleasure to make sure the program runs smoothly. The mentor program is in its second decade, and this year we have a record number of participants. It is my goal to see that as many of our students as possible have the chance to be exposed to a respected member of the health profession of their choice-for the opportunity to catch a glimpse of their future and get advice from a knowledgeable professional in that field. Our mentors are generous, dedicated and committed to their mentees. Our students are some of the best people on campus, bright, enthusiastic and altruistic. I am gratified by the opportunity to bring mentors and mentees together, to help develop the health professionals of the future. Please contact me at awilson@ucsd.edu if you have any questions about the Health Professions Mentor Program.Professional Liaisons recruit new doctors, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, etc. to serve as mentors to HMP3 students who would like to gain exposure to the health professions field of their choice. This year we hope to allow more students than ever before to shadow health professionals and gain valuable experience and insight. We are also planning a Health Professions Mentor Symposium in the spring, where some of the professionals will talk about the mentorships they offer and students can get their questions answered.
